New year texting madness

http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/china/2010-02/01/content_9404236.htm

We all know that asian new year is coming up and we all know the texting spam that comes with it. Aparently that is becoming a problem in China because there are a lot of people in thos cities and many of them are sending text messages to celebrate the occasion. there are so many texts being sent that it is too much for the network to handle and the government is responding with a policy that says that you can only send 500 text messages per hour. to me 500 texts is a lot but to other people and even some people will have a problem copeing with the temporary limitations.

The article that I read was about a new policy to limit the number of New Year text messages send during Spring Festival at the end of the year. Three main Chinese mobile network operators limit allowable seding text messages 200 within hour or 1,000 within a day. For holidays and weekends, it will increase to 500 hourly and 2,000 every day. I think it is a good policy because, there are not many people normaly send more than 200 text messages in an hour and 1,000 within a day. Also, this policy would decrease receiving bunch of spam messages. However, because there are exception, bussinessmen who should send numerous text messages to their client, I believe mobile network operators should make exceptional allowance.
