Over break i visited my relatives who are chinese and had various chinese dishes for new years and christmas. I also watched a movie with chinese subtitles and it was cool to actually recognize some of the characters, even if it was only two or three per subtitle change. I also spoke a little chinese with my relatives and was surprised to learn that my cousins knew a little chinese and could have a conversation with me, even though it was only simple questions and answers.
